Office Descriptions

City Council

City Council is comprised of six council members, two of whom are elected at-large and four who are elected from their respective districts. This election year, there is one at-large city council race (which all Greenville residents can vote on), and one district race, which District 2 residents can vote on.

A city council member is an elected or appointed local official who serves as part of a city's legislative and policy-making body, representing their constituents by voting on ordinances and resolutions, approving the city budget, and addressing community needs through legislative and committee work. They work collectively to set policy, oversee city agencies, and develop the community's future, with responsibilities varying depending on their city's specific needs and structure.
